Shantir Neer Housing Project
SHANTIR NEER 2024
We initiated the first housing project for a family in need. We approached the architect with a budget who came back with a plan for the tin shed house. The house consists of a veranda and 2 rooms totalling an area size of 330 square foot. The house is built using solid timber and metal sheets offering a hard wearing design. We decided to call the housing project Shantir Neer which means place of rest.
Since completing our first few housing project we have been able to learn and improve allowing us to use advanced materials including corrugated roofing, metal trusses and metal rods on future dwelling. These offer further durability and can withstand varying weather conditions ensuring the house lasts for many years. After each housing project is complete we host a celebratory day where we hand over the dwelling to the new occupants.

SHANTIR NEER 2022
In June 2022, Bangladesh experienced one of the worst floods in history. It left devastation and displaced millions of homeless across the Sylhet district, which was submerged nearly 65% underwater. This left little hope for their future due to the loss of livelihood resulting in heavy toll and famine.
We took the initiative by distributing emergency food parcels to the poor and needy. From the effect of the post floods we could not help all but a few, by building their new houses for them. Allowing time for the land to dry, we began work at the back end of August to which we handed over our first house in October 2022. And since then till now we have successfully delivered a further seven more houses up until December 2022.
The second phase of houses has already started this year and we aim to complete building another four more homes by the end of February 2023.
